An agreement was signed between Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency "Azersu" OJSC and Mekorot Water Company on the provision of technical consulting services within the framework of the seawater desalination project, Azersu OJSC told APA-Economics.
Amir Lang, chairman of the board of directors of Mekorot Water Company, Israel's national water operator stressed that 90 percent of the drinking water demand in his country is provided by the company he represents and approximately 60 percent of water supplied to consumers is obtained by desalination of seawater. Mekorot Water Company and its subsidiaries are currently cooperating with a number of countries around the world in the field of seawater desalination as well as water management.
