The European Union (EU) supports Azerbaijani municipalities that have joined the Mayors Initiative through training and methodological assistance, specialized technical support, best practices, as well as experience-sharing, networking, and awareness-raising activities, said the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Marijana Kujundžić, at an event held in Nakhchivan dedicated to the “Covenant of Mayors – Eastern Partnership” initiative, APA-Economics reports.
Opening the event with a welcoming speech, the Ambassador emphasized the role of cities in achieving concrete results in the fields of climate and energy and called on municipalities to join the initiative.
Note that the Covenant of Mayors – Eastern Partnership is an initiative funded by the European Union and provides support to local and regional self-government bodies in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine in the development and implementation of sustainable energy and climate policies.
