Currently, “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC is actively working on the development of railway infrastructure in the liberated territories, said Suliddin Baghirov, leading specialist of ADY, during the info session titled “The Role of Azerbaijan Railways in the Development and Urbanization of Cities” organized within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
According to him, in particular, intensive work is underway on the reconstruction and restoration of the Aghdam–Khankendi railway line, which became unusable during the occupation period.
“At present, the level of implementation of physical works within the framework of the restoration of this railway line is close to 40%,” Suliddin Baghirov noted.
He added that another important direction in terms of restoring railway infrastructure is the Horadiz–Aghdam railway line. The level of implementation of works carried out in this direction has currently reached 72%.
“After the completion of this project, as well as the completion of the process of creating the Zangezur corridor, passenger trains belonging to ‘Azerbaijan Railways’ will be able to operate up to Nakhchivan,” Suliddin Baghirov stressed.
