About 26,000 tons of cargo have been transported from Russia to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan, said Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev during his speech at the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia held in the city of Zangilan, APA reports.

“As you know, as an initiative and a gesture of goodwill by the President of Azerbaijan, restrictions on the transportation of cargo from various directions, including from Russia to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan, have been lifted,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that this step serves to strengthen trust in the region and contributes to the development of regional connectivity, the expansion of economic cooperation, and the deepening of cooperation in the transport and logistics sector.

Shahin Mustafayev emphasized that currently, about 26,000 tons of cargo have been delivered in transit from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia through Azerbaijan’s territory.

According to him, the main part of the transported cargo consists of wheat and fertilizers.
