Azerbaijani-Russian border bridge to be built this year

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. construction of a new road bridge over the river Samur at the Azerbaijani-Russian border will commence this year, said the Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov.
According to him, the Governments of Azerbaijan and Russia have reached agreement on the construction of the bridge.
“The Ministry of Transport of Russia will support the construction of a bridge, because the project is important in terms of enhancing the transport relations between the two countriesâ€, said the minister.
The existing 500-meter bridge on the Samur River is very old and was in danger of collapsing.
The issue of constructing of a new bridge had been suggested at the meeting of Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission.
