Baku. Viktoriya Dementyeva - APA. The world financial crisis did not affect the volume of cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Russia significantly, said Russian Minister of Transport Igor Levitin.
According to him, the crisis had no impact on infrastructure and the volume of freight traffic between the two countries didn’t decline.
He also noted that despite the crisis, there are still plans to build the Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia railway line and negotiations are under way.
“We have plans to start the construction of Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia railroad. The line will expedite the movement of goods in the North-South transport corridor. The parties will discuss this issue here in Baku today,” he added.
In addition, Igor Levitin expressed his country’s desire to continue to work together with Azerbaijan on the acceleration of goods transportation by road.
“In this area there are problems with the completion of formalities at the border. The Russian side wants these formalities to be more simplified and faster,” he added.
