Intelligent Transport Management System Project unveiled in Azerbaijan
“This smart system will be unique in the CIS area. The cutting edge flexible solution will allow addressing problems in transportation and regulating the traffic. This will also solve e-payment issues,†he added.
South Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan Lew Kwang-Chul added that the intelligent transport system to be installed in Baku will be an example for other spheres in the region.
Unveiling features of the project, a representative of the project implementer – South Korea’s SK C&C said that the first task in the system is to set up a passenger bus management system.
After implemented, the system will collect traffic data in real-time from data collection media (detector-video, loop and radar, CCTV, etc), send data in real-time to the Intelligent Transport System Servers for the detention of unforeseen incidents, special situations and repeated congestion and the management of traffic flow, parking, and movement on bridges and overpasses through entrance/exit ramp control and lane control.
Besides, data transfer and signaling system will enable to improve traffic flow in case of special situations such as extreme congestion or unforeseen situations based on data collected in real-time in the servers through local detectors, surveillance and monitoring devices along the roads.
The project also envisions the introduction of e-card payment system in transportation.
At the first phase, 20 electronic information boards, 77 detector-videos, 30 unauthorized parking regulators, 55 surveillance cameras and 546 loops will be installed. The project timeframe is two years.
The project management group leader Sadraddin Mammadov said the intelligent transport system to be installed in Baku will have several advantages over the similar system set up for the Seoul Metropolitan Government because some new features have been added to the project on the initiative of Azerbaijan.
