Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The transit of Azerbaijan’s crude oil via Georgia to the Black Sea ports may be resumed after a month, said Nadir Azmammadov, Press Secretary of Azerbaijan State Railways Company (ADDY).
Oil transit from Azerbaijan was halted after a key railway bridge near the Kaspi area of Georgia was blown up in mid-August.
“Cleaning work is under way in the explosion area. Repair will begin soon and the bridge will be operational after a month,” he added.
A key railway bridge 45km west of the capital Tbilisi was blown up on August 16. Georgia accused Russian troops of blowing up a key railway bridge while Russia’s General Staff denied carrying out the bridge attack, declaring that hostilities that flared around South Ossetia were, as far as it was concerned, over.
