Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. An International Conference on “Digital Age and New Generation: Strengthening Capabilities and Capacities of Youth in ICT)” has kicked off in Baku with the support from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, and the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation,(ICYF-DC).

Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, said in his speech that the aim of the conference is to support the efforts of young people in introducing new technologies.

"This conference is taking place here in Baku because Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the Islamic world on the way of transformation from natural resources-based economy to high-tech based one. Muslim countries are endowed with 70% of world hydrocarbon resources but they have only 6-8% of global GDP output,” he added.

The two-day conference has brought together about 100 young experts on the ICT sector from Europe and the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference, as well as representatives of the leading IT companies, research institutes, and non-governmental organizations.
The Conference will provide the basis of the transfer of information technologies for young entrepreneurs.

The participants will discuss the roles of young people, public sector and private sector in the ICT development and will hear reports on entrepreneurship and marketing.

A presentation of “Justice to Khojaly” Campaign initiated by ICYF-DC Intercultural Dialogue General Coordinator Leyla Aliyeva will be held at a separate plenary session focusing on the role of ICT in promoting the international campaigns.

The session is due to be attended by national coordinators for the future campaign from more than 20 countries.

The conference also will provide opportunities for young business people working in the field of computer technologies find new partners and investors in order to implement joint projects.

The most innovative projects will be exhibited at the Bakutel International Exhibition on November 4.

The best of the proposed projects will be approved as the outcome of the conference and presented to investors for financing.
The conference will also feature a joint presentation of an internet television "Bridge" between the ICYF-DC and the MCIT to broadcast programs on dialogue of civilizations among youth in Europe and the Middle East.

The Baku program on "Youth Development in ICT" to be adopted in conclusion will be presented as recommendations to a ministerial conference of Black Sea countries and the OIC member states.
