Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Uzbekistan has approved plans to buy six Boeing and 10 Airbus airliners in lend-leasing deals worth a total of 1.14 billion dollars, an official document viewed by AFP on Wednesday showed.

State-owned national carrier Uzbekistan Airways will receive six Airbus A320 jetliners under a 2007 contract agreed with the European planemaker.

Another four of the Airbus models will be delivered by 2016, under a separate deal signed in 2008.

According to the document signed by President Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan has already made some advanced payments for the planes and spare parts.

The document also approved contracts with US aerospace giant Boeing reached in 2008 and 2007 for the delivery of four of its 767-300 airliners by 2013 and two of its 787 Dreamliners models the year after.

Uzbek Airways operates a mixed fleet of Boeing, Airbus, British-make RJ85 and Russian-make planes. It runs flights to more than 40 cities in the world.
