Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The Latvian Government has proposed Azerbaijan to make use of its transit opportunities.

Latvian Minister of Transport Kaspars Gerhards said Azerbaijan and Latvia have close cooperation in the transportation sector.
He pointed to direct passenger flights between Baku and Riga as an example.

“In spite of the existing cooperation, we propose to Azerbaijan to make use of Latvia’s transit corridor to deliver products to Europe. At the same time, we can use Azerbaijan’s transit corridor,” he added.

He also added that there is good potential to further develop relations in trade, light industry, energy, finance, tourism, transport, logistics and other sectors.

The Azerbaijani-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Issues met in Baku as part of Latvian President Valdis Zatlers’ official visit to Azerbaijan from August 10-12.
