Izmir. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s leading mobile operator Azercell Telecom is fully ready to launch the third generation technology in the country, said Oguz Pardun, manager of Ericsson – Azerbaijan.
What the company needs is a proper licence from the government to make available 3G services, he added.
According to him, the 3G service infrastructure has been deployed by Ericsson.
“We have deployed and tested the latest technology in Azercell. After a license is granted, Azercell’s 3G services will be made available in Baku and Absheron,” he noted.
In his words, the introduction of 3G services will allow 7.2Mbps connectivity speed, telephony, video calls etc.

Ericsson has had presence in Azerbaijan since 1996. The company’s market share is more than 50% in Azeri market.
Azercell Telecom has been in operation since 1996. It services nearly 4 million subscribers.
