Baku-Tel-Aviv flight to be discontinued

As IzRus portal reports, Israel wants to assume the security of flights from and to Israel to and from Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, a move which is not accepted by Azerbaijan.

Maharram Safarli, Press Secretary of Azerbaijanâ€™s state-owned airline AZAL, said the parties are in negotiations on the matter.

â€œBaku-Tel Aviv â€“Baku flight will be discontinued if the parties fail to agree in negotiation by August 20. This will not pose any problem for AzAL. There is no problem in our security service. AzALâ€™s security service has been highly rated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). We provide high security of passengers from all countries including Israel,â€ he added.

He added the Azerbaijani side has rejected Israelâ€™s request to put its security officers at Baku airport to tighten security.

AzALâ€™s ticketing office said the flight will be available on Wednesdays and Sundays by August 16. The one-way airfare costs AZN 415.
