Azerbaijan says ICT and postal revenue go up in GDP

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva â€“ APA-Economics. The share of ICT and postal revenue in GDP increased from 1.3% last year to 2.2% in the first half of 2009, said Rashad Nabiyev, Officer of Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.

According to him, the share jumped from 4.3% to 4.6% in non-oil GDP.

Units and agencies under the ministry generated AZN 113.9 million against the predicted AZN 107.6 million during the first half, up 12% from the same period last year, he noted.

In his words, the units and agencies paid AZN 17.8 million to the state budget and AZN 5.5 million to the State Social Protection Fund.
