Ali Agan: “Azercell” and “Azerfon” subscribers will not be able to call one another unless a debt is discharged
# 21 July 2009 15:37 (UTC +04:00)
APA reports that Agan said that they had invested $1 billion in Azerbaijan to expand and improve the mobile network. This is to inform that due to systematic breaches of monthly payment terms of the Interconnection Agreement, concluded between “Azercell Telecom” LLC and “Azerfon” LLC (Nar Mobile) on 28. 02.2007, that occurred starting with July 2008 till present, the related debt of “Azerfon” LLC (Nar Mobile) has reached cca 11.000.000 (eleven million) AZN. Despite of our multiple formal applications to cover the accumulated debt, no actual steps were taken by “Azerfon” LLC (Nar Mobile). Therefore we’re forced to unilaterally cut the interconnection between the two networks on 22.07.2009, at midnight, 00:00. (interconnection is the connection between the networks of two operators which enables their subscribers to have mobile communication between them.) Agan said “Azercell” and “Azerfon” subscribers would not be able to call one another unless a debt was discharged.
Regarding above mentioned issue, please note that “Azerfon” LLC (Nar Mobile) will be responsible for all consequences which might occur in the mobile connections between the subscribers of the two operators.
