Azerbaijan takes second place among post-soviet countries in the Enabling Trade Index 2009

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva – APA-Economics. The World Economic Forum issued Global Enabling Trade Report 2009, APA-Economics reports. According to the report, Azerbaijan is 90th among the wide-band Internet users and 79th for mobile communication coverage. Azerbaijan gained 5.1 points and took 49th place among 121 countries for implementation of technologies at the companies’ level. It was 81st with 0.1 points for the number of Internet users and 68th with 14.8 points for the number of phone lines.

Market access indication shows 4.07 points for Azerbaijan and gives it 52nd place, border administration – 2.91 points and 107th place, transport and telecommunication infrastructure – 3.4 points and 62nd place, business field – 4.68 points and 46th place, common indications – 3.77 points and 70th place. Azerbaijan left Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia behind for this indication and was second among the CIS countries after Estonia (4.92 points and 41st place).

Singapore and Hong Kong occupy top two positions in the Enabling Trade Index 2009, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden took successively 3-5th places.
