Azerbaijan National Library launches electronic book order service

Baku. Ainur Veliyeva - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan National Library has made available a new service allowing readers to order books by e-mail.

The advantage of this service is that before coming to the library, a registered reader can orders the book by e-mail and get reply on the availability of this book in the stock.

This service is supported by Virginia Technical Library System (VTSL) through funding from a grant of Soros Foundation.

The Virginia Tech Library System is an integrated library system supporting cataloging, authority control, serials control, circulation, reserve room, acquisitions, document delivery, online public-access catalog, keyword searching with Boolean operators, and statistics reporting.

The project is being implemented within the framework of a state program for the development of the Azerbaijani libraries in 2007-2013.

The program provides for the establishment of a network of electronic catalog, the formation of a virtual library of Azerbaijani literature, the construction of special buildings for libraries, the creation of technologies and methods for long-term storage of historical heritage, the creation of a unified database of libraries, publications and media.
