Cargo transportation rises by 0.8% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Cargo transportation increased by 0.8%, year-on-year, to 73 million tons and cargo turnover increased by 1.3% in January-May, said the State Statistical Committee.

Of this, 46.8% were transported by road, 35.1% by pipeline (including 20.8% by Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and 2.4% by Baku-Tbilsi-Erzurum pipelines), 11.1% by rail and 7% by sea.

Private sector took 72% of the total transportation.

519.4 million people were carried in the transportation sector, a 7.7% increase on a year earlier. The private sector took an 81.6% share.
