Azerbaijan hosts international conference on the development of postal financial services

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azeri Post and the Universal Postal Union have organized an international conference on the development of postal financial services.

Novruz Mammadov, Postal Officer at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, said that the Financial Services Development Project between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank is under way to facilitate improvement of the access of the rural population to financial services and improvements in the financial architecture.

â€œThe three-year project started in 2005 and should have been completed in 2008. However, under an agreement, the project period was extended for another year,â€ he added.

The two-day conference will also discuss the strategy for the development of postal financial services, mutual cooperation and other issues.

The event is attended by representatives of postal organizations of Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, France, Mexico and Brazil.
