Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-ECONOMICS. The termination of nighttime flights at
Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport from July 2 will not affect airfares, said Jahangir Asgarov, President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AzAL).

“Despite the fact that there are nighttime flights in some European cities like Paris and Geneva, we decided to abandon this practice,” he added.

The airport will be closed from 12.00 am to 07.00 am as in accordance with an order issued by AzAL President Jahangir Asgarov in order to ensure convenience and normal rest of Baku residents at night.

AzAL said it have let foreign airlines know about the restriction that state, sanitary, humanitarian and emergency flights will only be allowed during night time.

Several local and foreign airlines based in Azerbaijan told APA-ECONOMICS that a number of international passenger flights are scheduled to take off and land at night.

For example, landings and take-offs of airliners for Baku-Moscow (Rossiya Airline), Baku-Minsk (BelAvia), Instanbul-Baku (Turkish Airlines), London-Baku (BME), Frankfurt-Baku (Lufthansa), Baku-Riga and Riga-Baku (Air Baltiya) and others are scheduled for night-time.

The airlines are due to change their schedules from July.
