Baku hosts 19th meeting of Metrology Organization for Eurasia

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Baku is hosting an annual meeting of COOMET, the Regional Metrology Organisation for Eurasia from May 19-22, said Azerbaijanâ€™s State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

The event is attended by senior officials for metrology from COOMET member countries and representatives from the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.

As part of the meeting, the technical committee on standards is meeting in Baku to hear annual reports from COOMET members and to discuss new proposals and plans.

Note that the COOMET is to harmonize the metrological characteristics of measuring instruments. The organization is composed of 17 countries. Azerbaijan has received full membership in the organization in 2007.

COOMET, the Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions, was founded in 1991 and is a co-operation between 17 national metrology institutes from central and east European and central Asian countries. COOMET is the Regional Metrology Organisation for Eurasia and its members co-operate in the fields of scientific and legal metrology and calibration services. Azerbaijan joined COOMET in 2007.
