Cargo transportation rises by 1.8% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Cargo transportation increased by 1.8%, year-on-year, to 57.2 million tons and cargo turnover increased by 2.1% in January-April, said the State Statistical Committee.

Of this, 46.2% were transported by road, 35.3% by pipeline (including 20.5% by Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and 2.6% by Baku-Tbilsi-Erzurum pipelines), 11.4% by rail and 7.1% by sea.

Private sector took 71.4% of the total transportation.

413.2 million people were carried in the transportation sector, a 7.7% increase on a year earlier. The private sector took an 81.8% share.
