Governments sign agreement to establish joint enterprise to assemble “Belarus” tractors in Azerbaijan

According to the results of the 5th meeting of Belarus-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission held in Minsk, agreement was signed to establish Azerbaijan-Belarus joint enterprise on assembling and producing “Belarus” tractors, APA reports. The tractors that will be assembled in Azerbaijan will be exported to the neighboring countries. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Andrey Kobyakov said the production capacity of the enterprise will depend on the needs. He mentioned that “Belarus” tractors and “MAZ” automobiles were being assembled in Gandja Automobile Plant. He said about 1000 tractors were assembled and 100 cars produced in the plant within past two years. It was also decided to continue economic and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus. Co-chair of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov said the trade turnover should be increased between the two countries. According to the results of 2008, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus made up $110 million.
