Cargo transportation rises by 1.1% in Azerbaijan, 1Q

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Cargo transportation increased by 1.1%, year-on-year, to 41.6 million tons and cargo turnover increased by 1.3% in January-March, said the State Statistical Committee.
Of this, 45.4% were transported by road, 36.2% by pipeline (including 20.9% by Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and 2.7% by Baku-Tbilsi-Erzurum pipelines), 11.3% by rail and 7.1% by sea. Private sector took 71.2% of the total transportation.
303.8 million people were carried in the transportation sector, a 7.6% increase on a year earlier. The private sector took an 81.8% share.
