Azerbaijan to introduce MPEG-4 standard

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva – APA-Economics. The Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications has analyzed the practice and plans of digital terrestrial broadcasting.
There is only one digital transmitter in Azerbaijan.
It is planed to introduce MPEG-4 compression standard and organize production of digital broadcasting receivers in Azerbaijan.
MPEG-4 is a collection of methods defining compression of audio and visual (AV) digital data.
The panel of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications will meet in 2010 to discuss the use of 790-862 MHz range for digital broadcasting.
