Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-Economics. The Board and the Operations Committee of Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications have met in Baku on April 14 for their 37th session and 9th meeting attended by delegations of the Organization’s Members and Signatories.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov was unanimously elected Chairman of the Intersputnik Board for the next tenure.

Ali Abbasov said Azerbaijan is switching the livelihood of its economy from natural resources to high-tech industry.

The meetings addressed a wide range of issues related to current operations and development plans of the Organization.

The parties approved alterations and amendments to the operations agreement which specifies the distribution of dividends among members.

In the course of meetings, the Director General of the Board and the Operations Committee will be elected.

Intersputnik is an international satellite communications services organization founded on November 15, 1971. Intersputnik nowadays is a commercially aligned organization. It operates 12 satellites in orbit and 41 transponders.

The organization has 25 member states among them the Federal Republic of Germany as the legal successor of the GDR.
