APA's Georgia bureau correspondent witnessed how villagers, friends and relatives of Allahverdi Pelengov in the Georgian- Armenian border checkpoint "Sadakhli" met him and many cars on the long convoy escorted him to his home.
Allahverdi Pelengov told APA every details of his detention: "On August 17 I was grazing my own cattle in the forest belt on the adjacent to our village mountainside. Suddenly, two men civilian clothes approached me and greeted me in Armenian. I replied to their greeting and one of them put out his hand for a handshake. I also put out his hand and at that moment the two men attacked me, trying to wring my hands. The fight lasted about half an hour until they have not arrived in time help. The person who detained me told me that I have gold. I protested and said that I don’t have. They were unarmed. Then they pre-tied my hands and took me to the frontier in the Armenian village Jochkan on the opposite side of the mountain. I was told that I had violated the Armenian border. Officers of Ministry of National Security arrived and more than 10 soldiers. On the same day I was taken to the detention center of the Ministry of National Security of Armenia. On August 19, at 12am investigator asked me explanation and said i will be fined. Six weeks later, I was transferred to the Yerevan prison Vartashen. Under an amnesty signed by Armenian president on the occasion of Armenia's independence on September 21, I was released on October 3."
A. Pelengov in an interview with APA noted that he had been detained unnecessarily. According to him, in prison he was not subjected to violence, the power granted to the cause: "In prison, I was kept Vartashen 14 days, after which I was released on October 17 at about 12:00 am. On this day, the Consul of the Embassy of Georgia and an investigator named Tigran Sinoyan released me from prison, after the consulate sent me to Georgia."
A. Pelengov got sad remembering the arrival of a son to the Yerevan prison and a failing to meet with him: "When I was in prison my son and my nephew came to meet me. However, I was not able to meet with them. They brought me to the transfer of food. In prison, I was kept in a cell with two Armenians. Armenians of the neighboring cells sometimes insulted me. Three days in jail with me sitting and two Georgians and a citizen of Turkey."
A. Pelengov noted that he is innocent and was put in prison for no reason, "Today, I'm finally in my family. But two months I spent in prison. I was released under amnesty. I did not pay any fine. The thing depressing me was that criminal case was launched against me without any reason. In our village there is no border fencing, barbed wire, no signs pointing to the line of the border. I could blame in accordance with the law in that case, if I were really going boom, would violate the border. But I was tormented by the fact that I'm doing just grazing my cattle, was rudely arrested and thrown in jail."
Allahverdi Pelengov said that on August 23, Georgian consul in Yerevan and two Armenian human rights activists met with him: "I probably would not likely to be released if there was not amnesty.
