Spokesman for Prosecutor General's Office Eldar Sultanov told APA that the reports of some mass media outlets on Azad Mursaliyev’s detention don’t reflect the truth.
“Taking into consideration Azad Mursaliyev’s having significant information on prosecution regarding the criminal case on Mahir Abudllayev’s missing which is being investigated by the Prosecutor General's Office, he was restricted from leaving the country to ensure his regular and close ties with the investigation. Azad Mursaliyev was detained at 06:45pm on October 31 while he was crossing the state border through the Shikhli border control area though he was aware of this restriction. He was released the same day upon being informed at Gazakh District Police Office about the requirements of the restriction on his crossing the border”, said the spokesman.
Azad Mursaliyev is nephew of former rector of the closed Azerbaijan International University (ABU) Elshad Abdullayev, who is living in France.
