Some media outlets have tried to introduce the suicide which resulted from constant family disputes as something sensational, the prosecutor general’s office told APA.
If such media outlets continue to publish misinformation to confuse the public, they will be orally warned by the prosecutor general’s office about more drastic measures – including administrative and criminal responsibility – to be taken against them.
“Regarding the information headlined “Entrepreneur shoots himself to death at father’s grave”, we state that the incident took place in the Guvakand village of Aghdash district on October 30. Villager Miralam Ismayilov, 1965, shot himself to death with a shotgun in the village cemetery around 12:00. The district prosecutor’s office then opened a criminal case on Article 125 (bringing to suicide) of the Criminal Code. Investigations made it clear that the deceased have formerly been engaged in collecting and handing over licorice roots in Aghdash and surrounding districts, and had a problem with his family members because he had a child from another woman whom he had married unofficially. Furthermore, he is said to have worked as an expert in care sales and for this reason borrowed money from different people but has not been able to return it. According to initial opinions, these are the possible reasons that dragged him to suicide. However, investigations are working to make sure whether or not the incident has taken place for some other reasons,” said the statement.
