Ilgar Aliyev, sentenced to pretrial detention under charges on articles #302.2, 308.2 and 309.1 of the Criminal Code and held in two seat cell of Baku detention facility, committed suicide on Dec.20 at about 15:55 local time, the Penitentiary Service told APA.
When his cell mate had gone to talk on the phone, Aliyev hanged himself tying bed sheet to the window bars.
His cell mate informed the employees of the prison, but Aliyev died despite efforts of the medical staff.
Investigating authorities, Aliyev's relatives and his lawyer were immediately informed about the death.
Employees of Baku City Prosecutor's Office examined the site along with the forensic experts.
The criminal case was launched under the article #125 of the Criminal Code, the investigation is underway.
