Ombudsperson representatives meet with Elgiz Gahraman, Bayram Mammadov, Giyas Ibrahimov

Baku - APA. On the instructions of Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Elmira Suleymanova, members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) on August 19 visited Baku detention facility of the Penitentiary Service of the Justice Ministry without prior notice.

According to the press service of the Ombudsperson, the Group, among whom was a doctor, received different prisoners, asking about treatment towards them, detention conditions of the summer time, nutrition, water supply, medical aid, etc.

During the visit, the NPG members had private meetings with Elgiz Gahraman, Bayram Mammadov, Giyas Ibrahimov and others.

Elgiz Gahram’s body was examined and no marks of violence were found on him. He also confirmed it by leaving his signature in the act written there.

During the reception, detainees did not have any complaints as to the conditions in the detention center and treatment towards them, confirming that they were allowed to keep in touch with their families by telephone, receive parcels, and meet with lawyers. Their rights as well as the powers of Ombudsperson were explained to them.
