Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Absheron District Court is holding preliminary hearing on the criminal case on imprisoned deputy chairperson of Musavat Youth Organization Nigar Yagublu, APA reports.
Lawyers Nemat Karimli, Adil Ismayilov and Elton Guliyev said at the hearing presided by judge Ilham Karimov that the investigation was carried out incorrectly and Nigar Yagublu’s arrest was illegal. The lawyers also protested against judge Ilham Karimov, who presided the hearing.
They also noted that the term of Nigar Yagublu’s arrest ended on November 11. Though the investigative body didn’t appeal, judge Ilham Karimov illegally prolonged this term. The lawyers objected to the judge on it. The judge said the court of higher instance must be appealed to regarding the case.
Mentioning that the petition on commutation of Yagublu's imprisonment to house arrest was rejected, the lawyers said the judge was biased.
The judges left to discuss the petition. Following the discussions, the court passed a decision to keep the petition unconsidered.
Following this, the lawyers filed petitions for commutation of Yagublu's imprisonment to house arrest, court examination on the traffic accident and testimonies of the inspector and Nigar Yagublu's father Tofig Yagublu.
The court declared the decision following the discussion. The court only granted the petition on testimonies of Tofig Yagublu and inspector.
The court hearing has been scheduled for November 22.
Nigar Yagublu was detained on September 11 over the traffic accident that killed member of Musavat Party Aydin Ajalov. Court sentenced her to two months in prison.
