Ali Insanov face charges under 3 articles

He added that investigative actions have been taken and Insanov has been interrogated.

“Ali Insanovb waived giving testimony, rejecting all the charges brought against him. We’re in Garadagh district court at the moment, expecting the decision to be made on transferring the former minister from prison to an isolator,” he said.

Babayev added that a month and 27 days are left before Insanov is released from prison.

Insanov detained in October, 2005 was convicted of a number of serious criminal offences, including embezzlement of public funds and arranging for unlawful privatization of State-owned property assets, and sentenced in April 2007 to 11 years’ imprisonment, with confiscation of property and a three-year ban on holding public office. His prison term is to expire in a few months.

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. A new criminal case has been opened against former health minister Ali Insanov, who is in prison, attorney Toghrul Babayev told APA.

According to Babayev, the prosecutor’s office told attorneys yesterday evening to visit prison 13, where the former minister is held.

“We were told that Ali Insanov will be questioned again and a new criminal case has been launched against him. We’re just outside the prison right now and only Garadagh district prosecutor Natiq Abdullayev is inside. We have not been given any information as to what article the new charges have to do with,” he said.
