Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. An Azerbaijani citizen, accused of murdering a police officer in Moscow, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison, APA’s Moscow bureau reported.
On the night of 27 May 2015, Azerbaijani citizen Nemat Rashidov, 26, along with his two accomplices, stole a payment terminal in the south of Moscow, took it on a Gazelle car and fled the scene.
On 24 km of the Moscow Ring Road, the car was stopped by a patrol car. Then, the alleged perpetrator left the car and disappeared into a wooded area. While attempting to catch Rashidov, a police officer, Andrei Bannov, 24, received stab wounds, from which he died on the spot.
Rashidov and his two accomplices were arrested on the night of May 28-29, 2015. He confessed to committing the murder.
