According to the report, of them, over 20,000 addicts use drugs of opioid group and 11,000 – drugs of cannabionid group. More than 11,000 drug addicts are registered in Baku.
Last year’s police operations revealed 2,935 drug-related crimes in Azerbaijan. Of them, 786 (26.7 percent) facts of crime were related to illegal drug trafficking, 1,940 fact (66 percent) – the illegal purchase and possession of drugs without intent to sell, 193 facts (6.5 percent) – the illicit cultivation of narcotic plants and 16 facts (0.5) percent – other drug-related crimes.
