Baku-APA. A shallow undersea-quake measuring 5.6 Richter scale jolted Aceh province in northern tip of Sumatra Island earlier Sunday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said here, APA reports.
The quake hit at 00 : 18 a.m. Jakarta time on Sunday (1718 GMT, Oct. 2) with epicenter at 421 km southwest Simeuleu district and with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua over phone.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
