The prevalence of opiate abuse in Azerbaijan between the people at the ages of 15-64 made 1.3-1.7 percent in 2012 compared to 0,2 percent in 2008. In Georgia this number increased from 0,6 percent in 2006 to 1.3-1.4 percent in 2012.
The report says that totally, 15690 persons, who violated the laws on drug abuse in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, were detained in 2010 and it is 22 percent lower than the relevant indicator of 2010.
The report also notes that in all regions of the world, abuse of prescription drugs, including those containing methylphenidate continues to grow.
