Quake-hit school in Lekid village of Gakh region opens - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

APA reports that Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov also attended the opening ceremony.

 

The damaged school has been rebuilt. Addressing the opening of 420-seat school, head of Region Executive Authority Musa Shakiliyev said that Gakh residents have always felt the care of the state after the quake. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has immediately started construction works and a number of dwelling houses and schools have been constructed and opened in a short time.

 

It was noted that 11 out of 56 schools in Gakh region were damaged as a result of the quake. 10 of them have already been opened. The construction of another school is expected be completed soon.

 

Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov mentioned that following the quake in May last year, President Ilham Aliyev visited the north-western region and gave necessary instructions to immediately eliminate the consequences. Nothing that the quake is a natural disaster, the Minister said that along with the state agencies, local people have done much for elimination of the consequences.

The Minister wished success to the pupils of the school.

 

As of April 1, 3177 private houses were constructed and 1915 houses are being constructed in the three quake-hit north-western regions of Azerbaijan.

26 schools and a kindergarten have been inaugurated up to now. In the future, 8 more schools are expected to be inaugurated in Zagatala, 2 in Gakh and 1 in Sheki.

As of April 1, 2013, AZN 17,734,000 was paid to quake-affected people for reconstruction works.
