Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office and Interior Ministry issue joint statement on incident in Ismayilli region

The Interior Ministry’s press service told APA that as a result of the mass incident in Ismayilli on January 23 at 21:30, “Chirag” hotel in the city and four cars were burnt. It happened after drunken Baku resident, worker of the hotel Emil Shamsaddinov crashed his car into an electric pole in Nizami street, together with his passenger, Baku resident Elmaddin Mammadov beat the owner of VAZ-2107, resident of the region Ramil Bakirov. A lot of people gathered at the site and protested against them. Shamsaddinov insulted the local people and it caused the incident. As a result of this, the citizens burnt the hotel and three cars in the yard of the hotel.

Instigated by the destructive forces, the participants of the incident attempted to burn the house of Elkhan Alakbarov, the son of executive authorities head Nizami Alakbarov. Due to the resolute measures taken by the region police office the expansion of the incident was prevented, but despite this, a car in the yard was burned.

Four, including three police officers were injured in the incident. The perpetrators Emil Shamsaddinov and Elmaddin Mammadov were detained.

Officials of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Interior Ministry arrived at the site.

Grave Crimes Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office has launched criminal case on the fact, investigation is underway.
