 Former owner of Georgian “Rustavi-2” TV channel arrested in Azerbaijan - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

The Interior Ministry’s press service told APA that as a result of the operations conducted by the Main Transportation Police Department, Georgian citizen Kibar Khalvashi wanted under the articles 180 (Forgery), 182 (Misappropriation or Embezzlement), 194 (Legalization of Illicit Income), 210 (Forging or Use of Credit or Settlement Card), 332 (Abuse of Official Authority), 341 (Falsification in Service) and 342 (Neglect of Official Duty) of the Criminal Code of Georgia has been arrested.

Relevant legal procedures are being carried out on the fact.

Note that, Kibar Khalvashi was one of Georgian prominent businessmen. He was one of the owners of “Rustavi-2” TV channel. However, after Mikheil Saakashvili came to power in Georgia he was faced corruption and number of other serious charges. Facing the threat of being arrested Kibar Khalvashi fled the country. He was wanted by Interpol.
