Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office publicizes who offered Sevinj Babayeva to leave for Turkey, how she went there, who met her - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA that the employees of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office and Interior Ministry were sent to Istanbul due to the death of Sevinj Babayeva, who was declared wanted by Baku City Prosecutor’s Office under the Criminal Code Article #178.3.2. The law-enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan were present at the forensic medical examination at Istanbul Department of Forensic Medicine due to the investigations carried out by their Turkish counterparts and the other investigative activities.

The investigation revealed that Sevinj Babayeva flew off the country by Baku-Istanbul flight from the International Airport at 05:57 at Gular Ahmadova’s request, after the scandalous video posted on internet on September 25, 2012 and she was registered at Istanbul Airport at 08:37 on the same day. Ahmadova’s friend Selcuk Aglayan, a citizen of Turkey, met with Babayeva in Istanbul and reserved a room at “Beynova” hotel under his name. Babayeva stayed at this hotel till October 10, 2012.

Babayeva lived alone under the name of “Meryem Solmaz” at the apartment rented by Selcuk Aglayan at the Moonlight Site in Esenyurt district, Istanbul till the above-mentioned date. She contacted her relatives and Gular Ahmadova via mobile phone owned by Aglayan and Skype. At that time, she complained of heart pains and took various medicines. On November 16, she went to the cardiology polyclinic of Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty hospital and received treatment there under the name of “Meryem Solmaz Muhammad”. She couldn’t continue her treatment, because of high price.

On December 26, Sevinj Babayeva’s health deteriorated and she was brought to the Esenyurt state hospital by ambulance, after the security service of the residential complex called the hospital. When Babayeva was admitted to the hospital in unconscious state, Aglayan, who went to the hospital with her, registered her documents under the name of “Meryem Solmaz”. According to the hospital, Babayeva was given the first aid from 09:31 till 16:13, taken ECG, blood tests and diagnosed with heart failure. For better cardiac examination and treatment after the doctors’ consultation, it was decided to send her to a specialized hospital and Aglayan took her to the “Medicana International Istanbul Hospital”.

According to the documents submitted by the hospital, Babayeva was registered under the name of “Meryem Solmaz”, taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital with the diagnose of cardiovascular and pulmonary insufficiency. The patient died on the same day despite intensive treatment.

Personal belongings, 10 kinds of medications, as well as “Aldactazide” and “Diltiazem” drugs used in coronary heart disease and samples necessary for investigation were taken from the house where she lived. Sevinj Babayeva's body was sent to Azerbaijan on December29, the forensic medical examination was re-appointed with the view of determining the cause of death and “MTE and PA” Union of the Ministry of Health was commissioned to carry out forensic medical examination.

The relevant investigations are underway to determine how Gular Ahmadova and her family members were involved in helping Babayeva to leave the country and hide in Turkey. Further information will be made public after law-enforcement officers sent to the Republic of Turkey return, the results of the investigative actions on the case and forensic medical examination from Turkey are available.
