Everyone must understand one thing – the fight against drug addiction isn’t the work only of the state. It is the duty of the whole Azerbaijani nation. Media, religious leaders, NGOs have sufficient opportunities in this field. All the options must be switched on. Because there is a possibility of increase in illegal drug trafficking in Azerbaijan, said chairman of the State Commission on Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov at the meeting today, APA reports.

To him, construction projects being implemented in the country are increasing day by day: ‘This means that cargo transportation is growing in the country. Almost every day, Azerbaijan hosts international events, the number of visitors, including the tourists runs high. All these allow the international drug mafia to increase the transportation of different drugs to Azerbaijan. Drugs are transported through the Afghanistan-Iran-Azerbaijan, Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran, Afghanistan-Central Asia-Azerbaijan routes and directly through the territory of Iran to the occupied lands. Recently, the volume of transportations via these routes has grown up. Armenian diaspora have a hand in this matter. The occupation of Azerbaijani lands, as well as ideological war is not sufficient for Armenians. They want to damage our genofond and future. Therefore, the entire public should join the solution to this problem’.
