Court issues verdict in Baku against individual accused of falsely reporting threat to burn Israeli embassy

A trial was held in Baku on the criminal case of Ulfan Aliyev, who was accused of knowingly providing false information to the police regarding the burning of the Israeli embassy, APA reports.

The verdict was read in the trial held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.

According to the verdict, Ulfan Aliyev has been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in a general-regime correctional facility.

Note that, according to the indictment, Ulfan Aliyev, born in 1990, called the “102” service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in January of this year and said that he would burn the Israeli embassy and plant a bomb in the police station.

During the call, he stood 20 meters in front of the embassy, “picked up a flake” and said that he would burn the ambassador.

He also said that he intended to set himself on fire in front of the embassy.

A final indictment has been announced against Urfan Aliyev under Article 216 of the Criminal Code (Knowingly providing false information about terrorism).
