Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued, the State Border Service Press Center told APA.
An attempted violation of the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented in the service area of the "Lankaran" border detachment of the State Border Troops.
As a result of border search and operational measures, a total of 17 kilograms and 450 grams of narcotic substances (11.45 kg of marijuana, 6 kg of hashish) and 4,950 methadone M-40 tablets were discovered and seized in the area.
Operational-investigative measures on the case are ongoing.
