The Border Troops of the State Border Service observed suspicious movements of an unknown person in the service area of the “Lankaran” border detachment from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Border post was immediately raised on the “Arms!” command, and the service area was completely closed.
The border guard gave the “Stop” command and pursued the border violator, and warning shots were fired into the air. The border violator, who did not obey the order, took advantage of the darkness of the weather and the forested area, threw the packages on him, and managed to escape back.
As a result of the conducted border search and operational measures, a total weight of 18 kilograms 100 grams of marijuana was discovered and seized at the scene.
