Azerbaijan extradites Tajik citizen wanted internationally

Azerbaijan has extradited a Tajik citizen who was internationally wanted, Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

Cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan in combating crime is successfully continuing. The petition of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan regarding the extradition of its citizen, Hokimjon Imomjonovich Ibronov (born in 1983), for criminal prosecution has been granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

Ibronov, who had been declared internationally wanted on charges of committing the crime of large-scale illegal drug trafficking in Tajikistan, was identified and detained in Azerbaijan in May 2025, and a preventive detention measure was applied against him.

In accordance with the “Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases” dated October 7, 2002, a decision on his extradition was adopted, and he was handed over to the competent authority of the Republic of Tajikistan under escort by the special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
