Family of editor-in-chief found dead in Azerbaijan’s capital had appealed to police for his missing

The prosecutor said according to the version of the forensic medical examination Rafiyev had hanged himself and criminal case was launched on the fact under article 125 (inciting to suicide) of the Criminal Code. Besides, forensic experts seeing signs on the body came to the conclusion that he had opened his veins. Ziyadov underlined that it did not cause Rafiyev’s death, he had been hanged.

District Prosecutor does not rule out outside influence on the editor-in-chief’s suicide.
“There is probability of somebody’s influence on Malik Rafiyev’s suicide and we are investigating it. The editor-in-chief’s workmates, close friends, even family members gave testimonies. The investigation is underway,” he said.
The prosecutor confirmed that a letter had been found in Rafiyev’s car.
“I ask you not to blame anyone for my death. I am guilty. Malik. September 18, 2008,” the letter said.

Baku Main Police Office told APA that Rafiyev on September 18 Rafiyev’s family appealed to Surakhany district police office saying that Malik Rafiyev left home on September 17 at 07.35 and never came back. Ziyadov did not confirm the fact.

Malik Rafiyev was found hanged in his Mercedes in Dilara Aliyeva street, near Railway Station.
