Preparation meeting of the trial on case of Elchin Babayev, member of the armed group leaded by the former Prime Minister Suret Huseynov in 1994-1995, and will be held at Grievous Crimes Court presided over by Mammedbagir Zeynalov, the judge told APA.
He said that the court got acquainted with the sides. The date of the trial was set on January 25. Elchin Babayev is accused of participation in the armed group under the name “Martyr Families Protection Committee� leaded by Suret Huseynov and Keramet Kerimov. This group was composed of the officers leaving the Army willfully. He joined the group in the summer of 1994. He protected Kerimov’s residence together with Namig Musayev, Elshen Guliyev, Zaur Ferzeliyev, Zahid Eyvazov and others. After the coup attempt prevented on October 4, 1994, Babayev surrendered his submachine gun to the Nizami Police Department in Gandja in 1995. He is found guilty under the article 279 (forming illegal armed groups) of the Criminal Code. /APA/
