Human rights activists appeal to President Ilham Aliyev for release of persons detained during action

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. Human rights activists appealed to President Ilham Aliyev for the release of the persons detained during the protest action on October 20.

Head of the Human Rights and Legislation Protection Bureau Saida Gojamanli told APA that the appeal was signed by members of Monitoring Group of Human Rights Organizations â€“ Novella Jafaroghlu, Saadat Bananyarli and by her. They asked for early release of those people: â€œWe ask the President to take a humanist step on the eve of holy Eid al-Adha and give instructions for release of 13 young people, detained while attempting to hold action on October 20, by taking a humanist step.â€

On October 20, a group of young people attempted to hold unauthorized action in the centre of Baku. 13 people were detained during the action and arrested.
