Preliminary fatal explosionâ€™s reasons in Sumgayit identified

The witnesses of the fire told APA. According to them, sudden fire occurred during the welding works. There is a number of killed and injured among the employees of the plant.

Deputy Emergency Minister Etibar Mirzayev has arrived at site. 4 urgent fire calls have been made. The helicopter is expected to be raised in order to extinguish the fire. Currently, cooling process is being carried out in order to prevent the fire spreading on the other fuel tanks.

Fir extinguishing brigades from Baku and Sumgayit were involved at site. Currently, firefighters are still struggling to take the fire under control.

Note that, the incident took place in one of the plants in Sumgayit. The reason of the explosion was a sudden fire in a fuel tank. According to preliminary information, 6 people were killed and several injured as a result of explosion.
